Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Apr. 24 is sophomore men's tennis player Javier Callejo. Callejo won both his singles and doubles matches on Saturday in the Southern California Regional Final against Cypress to help IVC advance its fourth straight CCCAA State Championship. Irvine Valley plays American River for the state title on Wednesday.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for April 17 is freshman men's volleyball player Patrick Furlong. Furlong, an outside hitter, had a season-high 24 kills to help lead Irvine Valley to a key four-set win over Fullerton in an Orange Empire Conference match last Friday at home. IVC clinched second place in the OEC standings and the No. 2 seed in the playoffs with the win.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for April 10 is women's tennis player Lorna Morris. The freshman helped Irvine Valley clinch a share of the Orange Empire Conference tennis title, which was the second one in program history, last week. Morris won both her singles and doubles matches against Riverside as the Lasers, who are ranked No. 1 in Southern California, beat the Tigers, 6-3.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for April 3 is baseball player Ryan Rafferty. The freshman third baseman was key in IVC winning two of three Orange Empire Conference games against Saddleback last week. He was 5 of 10 at the plate in the last two games with three doubles and one RBI and scored what proved to be the winning run in the 12th inning last Saturday.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for March 27 is men's tennis player Wyatt DeMulling. IVC, which is ranked No. 1 in the state, defeated NCAA Division III Wisconsin-Whitewater, 7-2, in its lone match last week. DeMulling, a freshman from Washington, defeated Zane Navratil, 6-4, 6-2, on the No. 1 court, and then teamed with Chris Politiek, 8-0, to win at No. 2 doubles.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Mar. 20 is men's volleyball player Austin McBain. The freshman setter helped lead Irvine Valley to two more wins last week. He finished with 40 assists in IVC's four-set win over El Camino and then had 38 assists as the Lasers swept Santiago Canyon in conference play.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for March 13 is baseball player John Stevens. The sophomore helped No. 12 Irvine Valley take two of three games in its Orange Empire Conference opening series against No. 11 Fullerton last week. Stevens picked up a save on Tuesday and a win in the series decider on Saturday at home.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for March 6 is men's volleyball player Matt August. The freshman middle blocker had 11 kills in straight-set wins over both Miramar and San Diego Mesa last week. He has helped lead the Lasers to the top spot in the state poll and he currently leads the state in hitting percentage.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Feb. 27 is sophomore baseball player Tyler Odekirk. The shortstop went 10 for 15 at the plate with two triples and five RBI as Irvine Valley, ranked No. 12 in So. Cal., won three of four games and improved its record to 11-5 on the year.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Jan. 30 is freshman women's basketball player Elizabeth Garcia. Garcia, a point guard, scored 19 points, including 10 points in the fourth quarter as the Lasers rallied to beat Santa Ana, 70-63, in an Orange Empire Conference game at Santa Ana.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Jan. 23 is freshman men's basketball player Parker Sims. Sims, a 6-3 forward, had his best game as a Laser last week. He scored 10 points and added 15 rebounds as IVC snapped a three-game losing streak with an 87-70 Orange Empire Conference win at Orange Coast on Wednesday.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Jan. 16 is freshman point guard Daniel Hernandez. He scored a season-best 22 points and kept Irvine Valley in its Orange Empire Conference game at Cypress last Friday night. Hernandez made 6 of 10 shots from the field, including 4 of 5 three-pointers. He was also 6 of 6 from the line as IVC fell just short, 61-55, in the contest.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Jan. 9 is freshman women's basketball player Serena Saba. The guard helped lead Irvine Valley to a 60-54 win over Santa Ana last Wednesday night with 12 assists. She followed that up with seven assists in a loss at Saddleback Friday.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Dec. 26 is freshman women's basketball player Kiara Warren. The forward out of University High in Irvine helped lift Irvine Valley to two wins in the Coast Christmas Classic at Orange Coast last week, including a victory in the consolation final over Cerritos.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Dec. 19 is sophomore men's basketball player Zuri Williams. Williams was named to the all-tournament team at the Bill Brummel Classic at Saddleback after helping lead the Lasers to the championship game against the top-ranked team in the state.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Dec. 12 is sophomore women's basketball player Kydell Pearson. Pearson was named to the all-tournament team at the end of the Irvine Valley Tournament on Saturday. The forward averaged 18.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in IVC's three games in the event.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Dec. 5 is sophomore women's soccer player Yesenia Pulido. Pulido was named first team all-Orange Empire Conference last week after having a standout year in goal for the Lasers. She was one of two IVC players named to the first team.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Nov. 28 is men's soccer player Connor Elder. The forward finished up another fine season with two more goals this past week. Elder had the first goal in Irvine Valley's 3-2 win over Rio Hondo in the second round of the playoffs last Tuesday and then scored on a free kick in the Lasers' 3-2 regional final loss at Mt. SAC Saturday.
Irvine Valley’s athlete of the week for Nov. 14 is women’s golfer Marisa Bhanubandh. The sophomore helped lead Irvine Valley into the State Championships this week. She paced IVC with a 36-hole, two-day total of 161 in the Southern California Regionals at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills last week.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Nov. 7 is men's basketball player Lance Coleman II. Coleman scored a game-high 27 points as Irvine Valley rallied to beat Cuyamaca, 72-67, in its 2016-17 season opener last Tuesday at home.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Oct. 31 is women's volleyball player Taira Ka'awaloa. The freshman outside hitter had 14 kills, 16 digs and 15 points in the Lasers' key four-set win over Riverside at home last Friday. The win kept the Lasers in the hunt for one of the top spots in the Orange Empire Conference.

The all-Orange Empire Conference midfielder, scored three goals and had one assist to lead Irvine Valley to a key 4-2 Orange Empire Conference victory last Friday at home. It was the first hat trick for Rivera at IVC.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Oct. 17 is women's soccer player Vanessa Gonzalez. The sophomore midfielder had one goal and one assist in Irvine Valley's key 3-0 Orange Empire Conference win over Saddleback last Friday at home. It was IVC's fourth straight positive result.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Oct. 10 is women's volleyball player Lucee Fitzgerald. The sophomore outside hitter and libero helped lead Irvine Valley to two important Orange Empire Conference wins last week. She finished with 24 kills and 28 digs for the week in IVC's wins over Golden West and Fullerton.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Oct. 3 is women's golfer Araceli Esquivel. She finished third at the North-South Invitational at Morro Bay last week and is currently leading the Orange Empire Conference in scoring through the first two OEC matches.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Sept. 26 is men's soccer player Sean Goode. The sophomore forward was a dominant force last Friday, scoring Irvine Valley's first four goals in a 5-0 win over Cypress. The four goals gave Goode seven on the season and tied him for the team and OEC lead.

Cannon, a sophomore opposite, had one of her best matches as a Laser last Friday night in the Orange Empire Conference opener at home. She finished with 17 kills to lead IVC to a four-set win over Orange Coast.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Sept. 12 is women's soccer player Alexandra Benedict. She has scored six goals in the last two matches. Benedict, a sophomore forward, is among the state and Orange Empire Conference leaders in goals and points heading into this week.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for May 2 is baseball player Austin Reynolds. The freshman pitched a complete game shutout last week in just his second start of the season. He helped Irvine Valley beat Riverside, 5-0, in a key Orange Empire Conference match-up.
Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for April 25 is men's tennis player Javier Callejo. The freshman won the Laser tennis program's first ever state singles title on Sunday in Ojai. He defeated defending state champion Hiro Koyanagi of Ventura.
