Sophomore Nate Noblitt's one over par score of 73 led the Irvine Valley men's golf team to victories over Saddleback and Cypress in an Orange Empire Conference match at El Prado in Chino on Wednesday.
Noblitt had three birdies, 11 pars and four bogeys on the par 72 Chino Creek course at El Prado.
Defending state champion Riverside posted a team score of 1 under par 359 to defeat rivals Santiago Canyon and Orange Coast.
Irvine Valley finished 393 to beat Cypress (396) and Saddleback (399).
The Lasers moved into a three-way tie for fourth place in conference with Saddleback and Cypress.
Noblitt has posted scores in the mid to low 70's in five of Irvine Valley's six matches so far.
Freshman Steven Zezima finished with a 6 over par 78 for the Lasers on Wednesday.
Zezima has been second to Noblitt in posting competitive scores for the Lasers, according to IVC coach Ben Burnett.
Zezima opened the conference with a score of 1 over par at Los Serranos. He's also had rounds of 84, 76 and 82.
Freshman Joseph Gordon also played well for IVC, posting a score of 79 to help the team beat Saddleback and Cypress.
His rounds so far have been 79, 80, 86, 79 and 79.
And freshman Trevor Frankhauser closed strong on Wednesday to post a score of 81. He shot 38 over the final nine holes for IVC.
Freshman River Robertson shot 82 on Wednesday as IVC's final scoring round.
Freshman Alejandro Velez had the Lasers' throw out score, finishing at 85.
He has shot rounds of 81, 86, 87, 79 and 82 so far this year.
Freshman Andrew Lichty has posted scores of 78, 80, 86 and 75 for IVC.
His 3 over par 75, at the Navy Course led IVC to a victory over host Cypress last Wednesday.
Lichty did not play in the El Prado match.
Irvine Valley plays again on Monday in another conference match. Saddleback will host the event at Tijeras Creek.
