Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Dec. 15 is sophomore women's basketball player Gianna DeForest.
The forward out of Tustin High had one of her best games as a Laser last Friday night at Citrus.
She finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds in IVC's 88-41 victory to help lift the squad's record to 10-1 overall.
DeForest made 7 of 13 shots from the field and also added one assist and one steal.
It was her second game scoring in double figures for IVC so far this season.
And the 15 points was one point off of her career high at Irvine Valley. She scored 16 points in a 77-72 Orange Empire Conference victory at Cypress Jan. 10, 2025.
DeForest is averaging 4.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game this season.
Irvine Valley plays again on Wednesday at San Diego Mesa at 6 p.m.
