Irvine Valley athletics finishes 43rd in the Ron Case Cup

Irvine Valley College's athletics program finished tied for 43rd in the 2025-26 Ron Case Cup presented by Daktronics recently.

Presented by the National Alliance of Two-Year Collegiate Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA), the Ron Case Cup honors the top community college athletics program across California, Oregon, and Washington.

The Cup was started for the 2023-24 season.

Mt. SAC won the cup for the 15th time in 22 years.

The Mounties accumulated 186 points, edging Sierra, which finished second with 156.5. Orange Coast rounded out the top three with 151 points.

Irvine Valley captured a team state title with men's tennis and had its women's basketball team reach the 3C2A State Championship tournament.

The Lasers had a solid year all-around with the men's soccer, men's tennis and women's flag football team all winning Orange Empire Conference titles.

The Ron Case Cup's scoring is based on finishes in state championship events, with points calculated from the top five men's and top five women's team performances.

Irvine Valley's total was created by a state championships in men's tennis for 20 points and the women's basketball team added 14.5 points for making the state tournament.
