Women's beach volleyball team earns first win of 2026

Irvine Valley's women's beach volleyball team picked up its first win of the 2026 season on Friday.

The Lasers split Orange Empire Conference matches, falling to Orange Coast, 5-0, but defeating Fullerton, 5-0, at the Newland Courts in Huntington Beach.

Irvine Valley's record went to 1-11 on the year.

IVC had played College of the Desert and MiraCosta tough in matches earlier in February, losing to Desert, 3-2, at the Spartan Invitational.

On Friday at Newland against Fullerton, IVC received wins from its top three pairs and then scored forfeit victories on the fourth and fifth courts.

Freshmen Tori Esko and Jazlynn Fu won, 21-9, 21-13 on the first court, freshman Lilanna Alvarez-Sager and Emma Mendel came through with a 21-17, 21-11 victory on court No. 2 and sophomores Riley Seymer and Nikki Korneff recorded a 21-9, 21-7 triumph on the third court.

The teams of Alvarez-Sager and Mendel and Seymer and Korneff also played tough against Orange Coast with each IVC pair going three sets.

Irvine Valley plays again next Friday when it travels to Long Beach to take on Cypress and Golden West.
