Irvine Valley sophomore Justin Zielinski has been named the Southern California Pitcher of the Week by the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association.
Zielinski threw a complete game, beating Santa Ana, 2-1, last week.
He gave up just seven hits (all singles) and one earned run.
Zielinski improved his record to 5-0 on the season. He has three complete games and a 0.80 ERA in 56 innings. Even more impressively, Zielinski has walked just two batters in his 56 innings.
He leads the Orange Empire Conference in ERA and is tied for second in wins so far this year.
Zielinski is the second Laser to be named a So. Cal. Player of the Week this season. Freshman first baseman Lucas Tancas earned the honor earlier in the year.
