Former tennis player Wyatt DeMulling starring at Boise State

Former Irvine Valley men's tennis standout player Wyatt DeMulling is already making his presence felt at Boise State.

DeMulling represented Boise State at the 2018 National Collegiate Tennis Classic last weekend at the Sunrise Country Club in Rancho Mirage.

DeMulling was both an International Tennis Association/California Community College Athletic Association All-American last spring in both singles and doubles and helped lead Irvine Valley to its third CCCAA State Championship in a row.

DeMulling, a Seattle, Wash. native, finished last season at IVC ranked fifth in both singles and doubles by the ITA/CCCAA.

He played No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles throughout the year for the Lasers.

He had ITA/CCCAA All-American honors in both singles and doubles, was named part of the Orange Empire Conference Co-Doubles Team of the Year with Chris Politek and was an ITA/CCCAA Rookie of the Year.

DeMulling helped lead Irvine Valley to its third-straight CCCAA State Team Championship, third-straight Southern California Region Championship, fourth-consecutive Orange Empire Conference title and the program's first undefeated campaign at 19-0 to extend the Lasers' win streak to 35 straight.

He advanced to the CCCAA State Singles Championship Tournament where he was seeded third, reached the quarterfinals with three-consecutive straight-set victories before falling in a classic battle 7-6(4), 7-5.

DeMulling also advanced to the CCCAA State Doubles Championship with Politiek where they went 3-1 to reach the quarterfinals.

DeMulling and Politiek's run at state ended when the duo lost to DeMulling's future Boise State teammate Maximilien Blancaneaux (Cypress College) and his partner 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5).

DeMulling and Politiek went undefeated in doubles during the year until their loss in the CCCAA State quarterfinals.

Last weekend, the Boise State doubles team of Mattia Bedolo and DeMulling defeated San Francisco's duo of Lucas Marinelli and Oliver Poysti 6-4 to finish the National Collegiate Tennis Classic 2-1.

Boise State opens the team dual season this weekend in Boise when it hosts a pair of Big Ten opponents in Northwestern on Sunday followed by No. 17 Michigan Monday morning, both contests will be played at the Boise Racquet and Swim Club.
