Tennis team has several players going for top spots at state

After taking its first 3C2A state title since 2017 on Wednesday afternoon over Foothill, the Irvine Valley men's tennis team moves on to the next phase of of the state event Friday through Sunday.

Irvine Valley quaified six singles players and all three of its doubles teams to try and compete for more awards in and around Vetnura and Ojai.

Sophomores Nick Grove, Luis Moros, Sufyan Ashraf and Luciano Pardo and freshman Lucas Diaz and Nevin McCann each qualified out of Orange Empire Conference play in singles at the Orange Empire Conference tournament at Orange Coast two weeks ago.

And Grove and Pardo, Moros and McCann and freshmen Jonathan Hinkel and Nicholas Villar each moved on in doubles to state.

Grove and Pardo won the state singes title last year and Grove moved on to the semifinals of singles.
