Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team was ranked No. 2 in the state in the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association poll for the third week in a row.
The Lasers are only one of two undefeated squads left in the state.
IVC is off to a 8-0 start and has swept five of its eight opponents.
Irvine Valley has won 24 of 27 sets against opponents this season.
In its lone match last week, Irvine Valley defeated Fullerton, 25-21, 23-25, 25-21, 25-21, in an Orange Empire Conference opener.
Sophomore middle blocker Kristian Austin had 16 kills with no errors and hit .615 on the night to lead the way for Irvine Valley.
Freshman middle blocker Paea Tafea stepped up and contributed mightily for IVC. She finished with 10 kills and hit .364.
Sophomore libero Anna Unke ended with eight digs, freshman defensive specialist Lexie Pereira had seven digs and sophomore setter Truth Hafey finished with 50 assists and 11 digs for Irvine Valley in the win.
The Lasers continue conference play Wednesday night with a match at Santa Ana at 6 p.m.
So far Irvine Valley has several conference leaders with Hafey first in the conference and the state in assists at 12.12 per set. Uastin is second in the conference in hitting percentage at .434 and Griego ranks fifth at .315.
Kruse is first in the conference in aces at 0.96 per set.
And as a team, Irvine Valley ranks tops in the conference with a team hitting percentage of .315.
