Women's basketball team adds new, committed players

The Irvine Valley women's basketball team, fresh off finishing the 2024-25 season with a record of 16-14 overall and making the 3C2A So. Cal. regional playoffs, has added six new committed players under now second-year head coach Claire Gocke.

The Lasers finished ranked No. 22 in the state in the final California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll of the year three weeks ago.

The Lasers made the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs and won a first-round playoff game at Antelope Valley, 59-57, before falling to state runner-up Orange Coast.

Irvine Valley had an RPI of No. 20 in the state and scored wins over San Diego Mesa Cypress, Santa Ana and Fullerton.

New additions to the team include guard/forwards Makayla Haddock and Natalie Cruz from Eleanor Roosevelt High, guard Andrea Castillo from Whittier High, guard Sienna Knodega from Corona del Mar High and guard Alexia Gallegos and forward/center Amanda Soto from Beckman High.
