Irvine Valley's beach volleyball team split its Orange Empire Conference matches on Friday at IVC.
Santa Ana was the host school.
The Lasers defeated Santa Ana, 4-0, before falling to Cypress, 3-2.
Irvine Valley's top team of sophomores Audrey Fowler and Avery Bennett captured their two contests and stayed undefeated in conference play.
In its opening match, Irvine Valley received wins from Fowler and Bennett (21-16, 21-10), the No. 2 pair of sophomores Alya Mersin and Jayva Andersen (21-19, 21-17), the No. 3 pair of freshmen Maia Garcia and Jheazrell May Quindoza (21-18, 21-11) and earned forfeit win on the fourth court.
IVC was right in the mix with Cypress. Fowler and Bennett earned a 21-17, 21-17 victory and Garcia and Quindoza won, 25-23, 21-13 on court three.
Mersin and Andersen were close on the second court, but lost in the third set, 16-14.
Irvine Valley finished the regular season with a record of 10-14 overall and 10-6 in conference for third place.
Next up for the Lasers is the conference championship tournament. IVC is playing host with matches getting underway next Wednesday at noon. The play in rounds, round of 32 matches and round of 16 contests will be contested Wednesday.
The quarterfinals through the final will be played on Friday at Irvine Valley beginning at 10 a.m.
