Former Irvine Valley women's beach and indoor volleyball star player Chloe Swanson had a standout year at NCAA Division I St. Mary's on and off the court.
The Gaels finished with a record of 20-16 overall and went 8-2 in the West Coast Conference this past spring.
It was the second time in program history that the squad captured 20 victories.
And announced in July and for the third straight season and the fourth time in program history, Saint Mary's beach volleyball earned recognition from the American Volleyball Coaches Association for Academic Achievement.
The Gaels were one of 1450 high school and collegiate volleyball programs to maintain at least a 3.3 team GPA throughout the year, thus earning the 2025 AVCA Team Academic Award.
In 2024, Swanson competed in 19 matches on the beach, playing exclusively with Paola Peralta in the No. 5 spot.
And this spring, Swanson played in the second, third and fourth flight spots for Saint Mary's.
Swanson helped the IVC beach team to an Orange Empire Conference Eastern Division title and to a California Community College Athletic Association Regional Final in 2023.
Irvine Valley won the OEC division title with a 9-1 record.
She was named a first team all-Orange Empire Conference honoree for two years in beach and served as Irvine Valley's team captain.
Swanson recorded 132 kills and 139 digs during her one indoor season with the Lasers.
