IVC baseball team loses final game of series at Riverside

Irvine Valley had a great win against No. 12 in the state Riverside at home on the road on Tuesday.

The Lasers earned a 4-3 Orange Empire Conference victory.

But after a 25-3 loss to the Tigers on Thursday at home, IVC suffered a 7-0 defeat in the series finale on Saturday at Riverside.

Irvine Valley's record went to 16-21 overall and 3-15 in conference. Riverside improved to 25-12 overall and 12-6 in the OEC.

RCC scored early on an RBI double by Parker Sobiesiak in the bottom of the first inning.

Marcus Moyer uppped the Tigers' lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single.

He later added a home run in the bottom of the sixth to put Riverside ahead, 5-0.

Jake Valenzuela went seven scoreless innings and struck out 10 for Riverside.

Irvine Valley finished with nine hits on the day. 

Freshman left fielder Brandon Abernathy led the way, going 3 for 4. Sophomore Chase Quezada went 1 for 2 with a walk.

But Irvine Valley left 10 runners on base.

On the mound, sophomore left-hander Jackson Chastain went six innings for the Lasers.

He gave up five runs (just one earned) on seven hits and one walk with two strikeouts.

Irvine Valley finishes the regular season with a three-game OEC set against Orange Coast. IVC plays at OCC on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
