After cruising through the first four games of the season, Irvine Valley has faced tougher competition in the last two games.

Irvine Valley defeated Grand Canyon University, 37-26, in the Redlands Tournament event last weekend to move its record to 5-0 overall.

But on Tuesday, IVC ran into a tough Ventura squad and fell, 32-12. The game was close early before Ventura hit on a couple of big pass plays and picked off two passes to pull away.

Irvine Valley will look to get back on track on Friday when it competes in the Let It Fly event at MiraCosta College.

The Lasers take on El Camino, host MiraCosta and East Los Angeles on the day.

Jesus Martinez was at the game against Ventura to take photos.
