Irvine Valley's women's flag football team, which was one of the first squads to start a program in the state in 2025, had another player commit to a four-year college.

IVC sophomore Marisol Gongora has been offerred by the University of Redlands.

Gongora, a wide receiver and defensive back played two years of flag football at Irvine Valley.

Out of Mission Bay High in San Diego, Gongora helped IVC to a share of the Orange Empire Conference regular title with Cypresss and then the Lasers rallied to beat Cypress, 32-27, in the final minutes to capture the first conference tournament title.

IVC finished with a record of 15-4 overall and was ranked as high as No. 5 in the nation.

Redlands ended with a record of 11-7 overall this past season.

"I want to thank my family and friends that have always been there to support and motivate me for this very moment," Gongora said. "As for my coaches and teammates, you made me a better player as the years went on at IVC. I will forever be a Laser in my heart."
