Irvine Valley's women's flag football team rallied to defeat Cypress in the first Orange Empire Conference Tournament Final on Thursday afternoon at home, 32-27.
The Lasers trailed late in the contest, but with just minutes to go a big interception for a touchdown and then a stop and another touchdown throw by sophomore Akayla Chaple gave the Lasers the victory.
Irvine Valley finished the season with a record of 15-4 overall and was ranked as high as No. 5 in the nation last week.
IVC also was a co-champion for the OEC during the regular season with Cypress. Both teams finished with records of 6-2 in conference.
