Irvine Valley's women's soccer team shut out East Los Angeles, 3-0, at home Friday afternoon in its last game before Orange Empire Conference begins next week.

The Lasers improved their record to 6-1-0 overall. Their only defeat in non-conference play was a 1-0 defeat on the road at Ventura.

Irvine Valley out-scored opponents, 22-3, in its first seven games.

IVC opens up OEC action at Orange Coast next Tuesday at 3 p.m. and then the Lasers host No. 1 in the state Saddleback next Friday at 3 p.m.

On Friday, the Lasers out-shot the Huskies, 16-1, with 10 of those shots came in the first half.

Irvine Valley led, 2-0, at the half and had many other opportunities. The Lasers took the first 10 shots of the contest.

IVC got on the board in the 28th minute when freshman forward Bella Vaglienty sent a cross from the left wing that made it through the box and found sophomore defender/midfielder Ashley Reina, who knocked it in on the back post.

Irvine Valley made it a 2-0 game in the 42nd minute.

Freshman forward Addyson Baumunk carried the ball down the right side and crossed it to the left to sophomore forward Nikki MacDonald.

The sophomore then flicked the ball to freshman forward Paige Shanahan and she finished.

To start the second half, IVC leading scorer Kuuipo Laumatia had three straight shots early. Two went over and one was a header wide on nice chances.

But Laumatia added to her goal total in the 84th minute on a penalty kick to give IVC its last goal of the game.

It was her sixth score of the season. And Laumatia ranks third in the conference in goals scored with the six and is also third in points with 14.

Freshman goalie Alexa Peterson didn't have to make a save in the game for the clean sheet for the Lasers.
