Women's soccer team goes down at Santiago Canyon Thursday

Irvine Valley's women's soccer team fell at Santiago Canyon, 2-0, in an Orange Empire Conference make-up match on Thursday afternoon.

The defeat put IVC's record at 8-8-0 overall and 2-7 in conference action.

The Lasers played tough and had the game scoreless through the first half.

But Santiago Canyon's Ayleen Jimenez scored two minutes into the second half and the Hawks never looked back.

Clarissa Huerta scored in the 73rd minute for Santiago Canyon to put the contest away.

Santiago Canyon, which out-shot IVC, 8-3, is currently ranked No. 4 in the 3C2A state rankings. 

Irvine Valley women's sophomore goalie Joanna Valdez made three saves in the match.

The Lasers bounce back and host Santa Ana in a conference match on Friday at home.
