Irvine Valley's women's soccer team battled, but fell to Saddleback, 3-1, Tuesday night in an Orange Empire Conference match.
The Lasers had their record fall to 8-7-0 overall and 2-6-0 in conference play.
The Bobcats, ranked No. 2 in the state, improved to 11-1-3 overall and 6-0-3 in the OEC.
Saddleback is unbeaten in its last nine matches.
Saddleback opened the scoring in the 13th minute when they had as player taken down in the box and were awarded a penalty kick.
Araylia Holiday made good on the opportunity for her sixth goal of the season.
Saddleback was awarded another penalty kick after Jinan Said was taken down on the same spot on the field in the 21st minute.
Cheyenne Embrey buried it in the lower right corner for her first goal of the season to give Saddleback a 2-0 advantage.
The Bobcats put the game away in the 57th minute when Holiday scored off a rebound goal.
Irvine Valley added a late goal when sophomore forward Kuuipo Laumatia redirected a pass from freshman forward Paige Shanahan past Cameron Simmons.
It was Laumatia's 13th goal of the season.
Saddleback finished with a 16-7 advantage in total shots and an 8-5 lead in shots on goal.
Irvine Valley plays at Santiago Canyon in a make-up match on Thursday at 3 p.m.
The Lasers then host Santa Ana on Friday in a conference match at 3 p.m.
