Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team was swept by No. 9 in the state Pasadena City on the road Friday night.
The Lancers came out on top, 25-11, 25-19, 25-19.
IVC's record fell to 0-5 overall, while Pasadena City improved to 7-3.
The last two sets were competitive with IVC hitting positive in the second set and taking a lead in the third set at 17-16 before the Lancesrs finished strong to close things out.
Freshman outside hitter Emma Mendel led the Lasers with seven kills, eight digs and two aces.
Freshman middle blocker Samantha Schellenberg added four kills and freshman setter Dalilah Rivero finished with three kills, five assists and eight digs for Irvine Valley.
Freshman setter Tori Esko chipped in nine assists, three digs and two aces.
Outside hitter Payton Scott led Pasadena City with 11 kills, hit .500 and had two blocks, while middle blocker Savannah Curtis contributed four kills and four blocks.
The Lasers have played an extremely tough early non-conference schedule.
Irvine Valley now starts Orange Empire Conference play next Wednesday on the road at Santiago Canyon at 2 p.m.
