Women's volleyball team finishes regular season with win

Irvine Valley's women's vollleyball team wrapped up the regular season with a four-set Orange Empire Conference victory at Fullerton on Friday.

The Lasers defeated the Hornets, 25-19, 21-25, 25-20, 25-12 to improve their record to 11-10 overall and 11-5 in conference.

Irvine Valley now turns its sights to the So. Cal. Regional playoff pairings.

The Lasers will find out about the playoffs when brackets are released Tuesday. Irvine Valley is on the bubble for the playoffs.

On Friday, freshman middle blocker Jazlynn Fu had a big match for IVC.

She finished with 17 kills and hit .429 on the night.

Sophomore outside hitter Alya Mersin added 12 kills, 16 digs and two aces, freshman middle blocker Samantha Schellenberg and freshman outside hitter/setter Dalilah Rivero each had seven kills.

Rivero also contributed 16 assists, 11 digs and two aces and Schellenberg had three blocks and three digs.

Freshman outside hitter Emma Mendel chipped in 10 kills and hit .312, freshman setter Tori Esko had 24 assists and three digs and sophomore libero Emmi Scelzo added 14 digs.
