The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team started the 2025 season 2-5 against a tough schedule.
But the Lasers have found their way back.
IVC swept Santiago Canyon, 9, 10, 8 Friday to level their record on the year at 7-7 and move to 5-2 in conference play.
It was the squad's fifth straight win.
The Lasers made quick work of the Hawks in a match that took just under an hour and 20 minutes.
Sophomre outside hitter Alya Mersin ended the first set with a kill.
And an ace by sophomore Emmi Scelzo wrapped up the second set.
In the third set, IVC ran off six straight points to go ahead, 19-4. It was 22-6 after another kill by Mersin and 24-7 after a kill by sophomore outside hitter Emma Mendel.
A kill by freshman Tori Kaufman ended things.
Mersin finished with seven kills, hit .636 and added nine digs and two blocks.
Mendel also had seven kills and freshman middle blocker Jazlynn chipped in six kills and hit .385.
Freshman setters Delilah Rivero and Tori Esko ran the offense with Rivero finishing with 11 assists and Esko with 10. Rivero also finished with six digs and two blocks.
Irvine Valley has a bye next Wednesday and then will start the second half conference play by hosting Riverside on Friday at 6 p.m.
