In an important conference contest - one that could affect playoff seedings down the line - Irvine Valley's men's tennis team went on the road and lost at San Diego Mesa, 25-19, 25-17, 22-25, 25-23, Friday night.
IVC's record slipped to 4-6 overall and 1-1 in conference.
Mesa improved to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in conference.
The Lasers hit just .137 (35-18-124) as a team in the match.
IVC was led by freshman outside hitter Kaarin Shiari, who finished with eight kills and hit .300. He added two aces and seven digs.
Sophomore outside hitter Tucker McClain added seven kills, three digs and three blocks.
Cooper Fry and Sonnyboy Matavao each ended with 10 kills for the Olympians.
Irvine Valley plays again next Wednesday at home, hosting Miramar in another key match at 6 p.m.
