Irvine Valley sophomore men's volleyball player Tucker McClain was recently named one of two Orange Empire Conference athletes of the week.
McClain had a standout performance in Irvine Valley's five-set, 25-16, 25-23, 26-28, 23-25, 15-13 conference win at Grossmont last Friday.
The win improved Irvine Valley's record to 5-7 overall and 2-2 in conference.
McClain finished with 17 kills, 11 digs, three aces and three blocks in the win.
He also hit .316 (17-5-38) on the night. IVC hit .305 as a team in the contest.
On the season, the 6-4 outside hitter is averaging 2.09 kills, 1.26 digs and 0.43 blocks per set.
Irvine Valley takes on two of the best teams in the state this week, going to defending state champion Golden West on Wednesday and then hosting undefeated Orange Coast on Friday.
