Irvine Valley men's tennis team, ranked No. 1 in the state, continued its busy week with its third out of four matches before Friday, takiing on another top team.
IVC faced Bakersfield, a top-10 ranked team, and put together a solid showing.
Irvine Valley defeated Bakersfield, 8-1, to improve its record to 5-1 on the year.
The team's only loss was a 5-4 defeat this past Monday against four-year Gustavus Adolphus from Minnesota.
On Thursday against Bakersfield, Irvine Valley won all three doubles matches to start and then won five straight singles contests in straight sets.
