Irvine Valley's men's tennis team captured yet another Orange Empire Conference title and its top players and coach were honored with honors recently.
Freshman Philip Neuman, IVC's No. 1 player, was named singles player of the year, Neuman and freshman Steven Anderson were selected as the top doubles team in the conference and Ross Duncan was picked as coach of the year after leading his team to a regular season record of 10-1 overall and 8-0 in the OEC.
Irvine Valley was recently selected as the No. 1 seed in the 3C2A So. Cal Regional Playoffs and hosts No. 8 Santa Barbara City at home next Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the opening round.
If Irvine Valley comes out on top, it will also host the second round on Tuesday, Apr. 14 against either Ventura or San Diego City.
In more news for IVC, the Lasers played in the conference tournament at Fullerton with players trying to qualify for the 3C2A State Individual tournaments at Ojai later in the month.
Irvine Valley had five singles players and all three doubles teams move on.
Neuman, Anderson, sophomore Nevin McCann, sophomore Bradley Yung and sophomore Jonathan Hinkel advanced in singles play.
All three of the Lasers' doubles teams also moved on with No. 1 Neuman and Anderson, No. 2 McCann and Yung and No. 3 Hinkel and freshman Richard Petery heading to Ojai.
