Men's tennis earns cup for the best 3C2A men's team at Ojai

After sweeping the team, singles and doubles at the 3C2A State Men's Tennis Championship at the prestigous Ojai Valley Tournament, IVC added another accolade to last weekend by earning the Ojai Cup for the community college men's division.

IVC was officially listed as the Men's California Community College Athletic Association State Individual Tournament Champions.

Irvine Valley defeated Foothill in the dual team final last Wednesday at Ventura College.

Then over the weekend, IVC had two players reach the singles final with freshman Philip Neuman defeating fellow freshman teammate Steven Anderson, 7-6(4), 6-3, in a back and forth match.

And then IVC had the duo of sophomores Bradley Yung and Nevin McCann pull off upset wins for three rounds before defeating the team of Caua Coimbra and Abladj Mondroha of Ventura, 6-4, 6-4, for the doubles crown.

It is the second straight year that Irvine Valley has swept the team, singles and doubles titles and won the Ojai Cup under head coach Ross Duncan, who now has five state team titles in his career with the program.
