Men's basketball team pulls away to defeat Los Angeles Valley

Irvine Valley's men's basketball team picked up its 10th win of the season with a 62-48 victory over Los Angeles Valley Tuesday night at home.

Irvine Valley received 18 points, eight rebounds and five steals from sophomore post player Matt Mowers.

Freshman guard Caden Garrity also had his best game as a Laser, finishing with 16 points, including making three three-pointers.

Garrity went 6 of 8 from the field and 3 of 5 from behind the arc in the contest.

Sophomore wing Nate Tuttle added eight points and sophomore guard Yanis Aldeguer contributed seven points for the Lasers, who improved their record to 10-4 overall.

It was Irvine Valley's fourth win in its last five contests.

IVC was down early, but finished the first half strong and led, 26-19, at the break and then out-scored the Monarchs, 36-29, over the final 20 minutes.

The Lasers led by as many as 21 points late in the second half.

It was IVC's final game of 2025 and closed out its non-conference schedule.

Irvine Valley plays again on Jan. 7, 2026, beginning Orange Empire Conference action against Cypress at home at 5 p.m.
