Irvine Valley's men's basketball team suffered two close Orange Empire Conference losses last week, but still moved up three spots in the latest state Winning Index Percentage and state rankings, which was released on Monday.
In the last report, IVC was at No. 30 in the state and No. 16 in the South.
On Monday, the Lasers moved to tied for No. 27 in the state and 14th in So. Cal.
Irvine Valley lost to two ranked teams in a loaded Orange Empire Conference.
IVC led much of the second half before falling to No. 10 in the state Santiago Canyon, 73-69, last Wednesday at home.
And then the Lasers went on the road Friday to No. 26 Riverside. The Lasers controlled much of the game before the Tigers took their first lead of the contest with 16 seconds left.
Riverside came out on top, 78-76, in the end.
Irvine Valley's record currently sits at 12-6 overall and 2-2 in the OEC.

Second-year head coach Jason Garey's IVC squad plays a conference contest at Orange Coast on Wednesday at 5 p.m. and then hosts No. 15 Santa Ana on Friday at 5 p.m.
