The Irvine Valley men's basketball team, with a record of 10-4, plays Cypress (9-5) in its Orange Empire Conference opener Wednesday at home at 5 p.m.
The Lasers have won four of their last five games and are led by sophomore post player Matt Mowers.
Cypress last played at Allan Hancock on Dec. 30 and fell, 65-58.
Jack Rivera finished with 26 points and Michael Wright added 15 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and two blocks.
On the season, Wright is averaging 20.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and1.4 steals per game, Rivera is averaging 12.4 points and 3.5 rebounds, Moises Hernandez averages 8.7 points and 4.4 rebounds and Aaman Zavahir averages 7.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game for the Chargers.
IVC last played on Dec. 30, defeating LA Valley, 62-48, at home.
Mowers finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and five steals to lead the way. Caden Garrity had his best game as a Laser with 16 points, making 3 three-pointers.
On the year, Mowers, a returning all-Orange Empire Conference player, is averaging 16.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
Freshman guard Ahmad Alhammouri averages 12.8 points and sophomore wing Yanis Aldeguer is averaging 8.6 points per game for IVC.
Irvine Valley plays again on Friday in a conference game at Saddleback at 5 p.m.
