Irvine Valley's men's basketball team battled Santiago Canyon all night long in a key Orange Empire Conference contest at home Wednesday night.
The Lasers held a lead late in the second half and the game was tied at 66-66, with 2:44 to play, but the 13th in the state ranked Hawks out-scored IVC, 7-3, down the stretch to earn a 73-69 victory.

For Irvine Valley, freshman guard Ahmad Alhammouri finished with 12 points and four rebounds and freshman point guard Santos Cordero contributed 11 points, three assists and two steals.
Irvine Valley's record went to 12-5 overall and 2-1 in conference.
The Lasers play again on Friday at Riverside in an OEC contest at 5 p.m.
