The Irvine Valley men's basketball team got back into the win column on Wednesday.
The Lasers went on the road and defeated Orange Coast, 79-60, in an Orange Empire Conference contest to snap a two-game losing streak.
Irvine Valley was close in both of those previous defeats, falling by four points to Santiago Canyon (73-69) last Wednesday at home and then by two points at Riverside (78-76) last Friday.
IVC is ranked No. 27 in the state and is still tied for third in the OEC standings at 3-2.
Irvine Valley takes on the team it is tied with in the conference standings, Santa Ana, Friday at home at 5 p.m.
IVC (13-6 overall) led at Orange Coast, 37-27, at the half and then out-scored the Pirates, 42-33, in the second half for the 19-point win.
Irvine Valley was paced by freshman center Zeno Calastas, who had his best game of the year. The 6-9 Calstas finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds and one block.
Freshman guard Ahmad Alhammouri added 14 points, five rebounds and four assists in the Laser win.
Sophomore guard Sam Meza-Tallada also had 14 points and contributed eight rebounds and three assists and sophomore wing Yanis Aldeguer finshed with 11 points, five rebounds and four steals for the Lasers.
