Irvine Valley sophomore baseball standout player Jake Amundson has committed to play at NCAA Division I University of San Francisco in the West Coast Conference.
The former star player from local Woodbridge High can play multiple positions and bats any where from lead off to the heart of the lineup.
For Irvine Valley this season, the right-handed Amundson has played in 23 games and is batting .253 with three home runs, eight doubles and 23 RBI.
He is slugging .440 and also has scored 15 runs.
Amundson has 49 RBI in his two years at Irvine Valley so far.
He knocked in 26 runs last season.
In 2024-25, he also batted .383 with two home runs, eight doubles, two triples, 22 runs, had an on base percentage of .433 and slugged .574.
This season 25-26 season so far, Amundson has 12 games with at least two hits and five games with three hits.
He starred at West LA on Jan. 27, going 3 for 5 with a double, triple, two runs scored, a stolen base and four RBI in Irvine Valley's 22-2 victory.
After last week, Irvine Valley has a record of 15-10 overall after taking two straight games over Los Angeles Harbor at home.
The Lasers are back in action with Orange Empire Conference play on Tuesday at home against Orange Coast at 2 p.m.
It is the first contest of a three-game series.
San Francisco is led by head coach Rob DiToma and has been consistently in the top of the WCC standings. The squad is 12-10 heading into this week with a mark of 3-0 in conference play.
