Irvine Valley standout women's basketball player Alexis Price was named the Orange Empire Conference women's athlete of the week earlier this week for her performance from Dec. 2-7.
Price, a 6-0 forward out of Downey High, went off with back-to-back double-double performances as the Lasers defeated Chaffey and Mt. San Jacinto last week in the Mt. San Jacinto crossover event.
She finished with 23 points, 12 rebounds, four steals and four blocks in IVC's 79-66 victory over Chaffey last Friday. Price shot 9 of 18 from the field and 5 of 6 from the free throw line.
The following day, Price ended with 31 points and 13 rebounds, making 12 of 24 shots from the field as IVC rallied to defeat Mt. San Jacinto, 64-61.
Irvine Valley out-scored the Eagles, 28-11, in the fourth quarter to storm back for a 64-61 win.
On the season, Price is averaging 15.4 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.
She has scored in double figures in six of 10 games for the Lasers, who have won five straightg games and have a record of 9-1 overall.
The team plays Citrus in a non-conference game on the road Friday at 6 p.m.
