2026-27 Women's basketball team schedule is announced

The Irvine Valley's women's basketball schedule has been released for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

Irvine Valley, which made the 3C2A State Tournament last season, and won the Orange Empire Conference, snapping Orange Coast's run of three titles, starts with a home game on Halloween on Oct. 31 at home vs. Palomar at 2 p.m.

The Lasers, under third-year head coach Claire Gocke, had a record of 26-5 overall.

The team went 10-2 in conference play and was led by all-state sophomores Symantha Barnett and Alexis Price.

The squad was ranked No. 7 in the final state coaches' poll.

Barnett and Price were named to California Community College Women's Basketball Association all-state teams.

Barnett, the Most Valuablue Player in the Orange Empire Conference, was selected first team all-state and Price, a first-team all-conference selection, was named second-team all-state.

Barnett served as the engine of the Lasers offense, establishing herself as a true floor general.

She averaged 13.7 points per game, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists while guiding Irvine Valley with a strong conference campaign.

Price was also named first team all-conference for the second year in a row after averaging 14.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

Both players along with defensive player of the year in conference Kivonni Williams were named first-team, all-conference.

Gocke was also named coach of the year in the OEC and the So. Cal. region coach of the year.

Barnett is headed to four-year HBCU Dillard, Price is off to Cal State San Marcos and Williams recently signed with Barton State in North Carolina. The story wil be posted this week.

The Lasers start with a tough home game against another one of the best teams in Southern California - Palomar at 2 p.m. on Oct. 31.

Irvine Valley also has non-conference games at home against Citrus, at the Riverside Crossover, hosting the IVC Crossover on Nov. 20-21, among others.

And the Lasers wil start conference action on Jan. 6 against Cypress at home at 5 p.m.
