Irvine Valley's women's basketball team starts its journey in the 3C2A playoffs with a home game against Chaffey in the second round of the postseason on Saturday.
Irvine as the No. 2 seed in SoCal received a bye in the first round.
Chaffey has a record of 17-12 overall.
The Panthers, seeded No. 13 in the SoCal playoffs defeated Rio Hondo, 80-73, in their first round contest on Wednesday.
This is the first Chaffey playoff appearance in 10 years and was the first postseason victory in 12 years.
Chaffey trailed in the first half, but made its move in the third quarter, out-scoring Rio Hondo, 16-10.
The Panthers continued to dominate in the fourth quarter, forcing overtime and outscoring Rio Hondo 15-8 to seal the comeback victory.
Abby Hardy led the Panthers with 17 points and 13 rebounds in a team-high 44 minutes.
Kamryn Ellis contributed 13 points and four steals to help fuel the second-half turnaround.
Danielle Singely delivered a well-rounded performance with 12 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
On the season, Singely averages 13.5 points per game, 6.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. Thomas averages 9.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals and Hardy is averaging 8.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for the Panthers.
Irvine Valley, seeded second in the playoffs, has a record of 24-4 overall, won the Orange Empire Conference title for the first time since the 2021-22 season and ended the regular year ranked No. 4 in the state.
Sophomore guard Symantha Barrett named the OEC MVP and first team all-conference and sophomore forward Kivonni Williams was the defensive player of the year and first team all-conference.
Sophomore wing Alexis Price earmed first team conference honors for the second year and sophomore post player Gianna DeForest was picked to the second team.
Second-year head coach Claire Gocke was also selected as the coach of the year in the conference.
The Lasers received a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
On the year, Price averages 14.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game, Barnett is averaging 13.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.8 steals and Wiliams averages 10.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals a game for IVC.
Per 3C2A guidelines, tickets will be $12 for adults and $8 for students with iD, faculty and staff, those 55 and older and children under 12.
