Irvine Valley's women's basketball team, which is ranked No. 10 in the latest state poll and is just a half game out of first place in the Orange Empire Conference, hosts Riverside on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Because of President's Weekend, Irvine Valley's team will play this Tuesday and Thursday at home instead of the usual Wednesday and Friday's during Orange Empire Conference action.
Irvine Valley enters with a record of 20-4 overall for the Tuesday game.
Riverside has a record of 6-19 overall and is 1-9 in the Orange Empire Conference.
The Tigers dropped games to Fullerton (71-50) and to No. 12 Saddleback, 85-62, last week.
Against Saddleback, RCC put up a big fourth quarter with 31 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Bobcats.
Michelle Soto led Riverside with 14 points, while Alexa Moreno and Brianna Ruelas followed with 12 points each in the game.
Irvine Valley won its lone game last week, knocking off No. 12 Saddleback, 65-49. IVC led by as many as 24 points late in the third quarter.
It was a dominant start to the second half as Irvine Valley out-scored Saddleback, 24-11, in the third quarter.
Leading the way was sophomore guard Symantha Barnett, who finished with 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block on the night.
Sophomore post player Gianna DeForest added 15 points and seven rebounds and sophomre wing Alexis Price contributed nine points, 10 rebounds and two assists.
IVC sophomore forward Kivonni Williams also had a strong game, hitting two big three-pointers in the second half.
She ended with eight points, six rebounds and five assists.
The Lasers were also solid on the defensive end, holding the Bobcats to just 28.8 percent (17 of 59) shooting from the floor as a team.
On the season, Price is averaging 13.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.9 steals per game, Barnett averages 13.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game and Williams averages 10.6 points and 6.3 rebounds a game for the Irvine Valley.
IVC hosts Orange Coast in its final regular season game on Thursday at 7 p.m.
