The Irvine Valley women's basketball team celebrated one of the best seasons in program history recently with its 2025-26 end of the season banquet.
The team had a record of 26-5 overall, went 10-2 in the Orange Empire Conference to take the title and made the 3C2A State Championship tournament and was ranked seventh in the final California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association State Top poll of the year.
Irvine Valley sophomore Symantha Barnett was named the 2025-26 OEC Most Valuable Player after leading the Lasers to a conference title, ending a three-year championship drought. She was later chosen as a first team all-state player.
Sophomore Kivonni Williams earned Defensive Player of the Year accolades after leading the team in steals.
Sophomore Alexis Price was also named first team all-conference and sophomore Gianna DeForest was picked to the second team. Price went on to earn second team all-state honors.
On top of those accolades for players, second-year head coach Claire Gocke was named the conference's coach of the year and later named the Southern California coach of the year.
Several players are expected to commit and or sign in the coming weeks. Barnett has already committed to to NAIA Historically Black College University Dillard University in New Orleans, La.
And IVC's schedule for the 2026-27 campaign is expected to be released next month.
