The Irvine Valley men's soccer team seemed to be in line for a win in its first contest of the 2025 season on Tuesday afternoon at home.
The Lasers led, 1-0, with only stoppage time to go.
But El Camino had other ideas. The Warriors scored in the 92nd and 95th minutes to pull out a 2-1 victory.
Irvine Valley took the 1-0 advantage in the seventh minute when freshman forward Andrew Roldan scored on a header off of a nice cross by freshman midfielder Sungho Yun.
And the Lasers had several other good opportunities to extend their lead throughout the match, including chances by sophomore midfielder Cristian Sanchez, sophomore forward Isaac Nixon, freshman defender Michael Baumgaertel and sophomore defender Yahya Alsadeq.
In the 92nd minute, El Camino tied the game on a goal by Gavin Hancock off of an assist from Jaden Hancock and then in the 95th minute Dilan Acevedo nailed a left-footed shot from outside that found the back of the net.
El Camino held on over the next minute to earn the win.
IVC out-shot the Warriors, 11-7, and had 10 corner kicks to six by El Camino.
Irvine Valley freshman goalie Sansiro Murata finished with three saves.
The Lasers play again on Friday, taking on Hartnell in Salinas in the Hartnell Tournament.
IVC will play a second game in the event on Saturday.
