Alumni Report: Lukas Stark part of historic team at Hawaii Hilo

Former Irvine Valley standout men's soccer player Lukas Stark recently finished up his senior season at NCAA Division II Hawaii Hilo.

He was part of a historic team last fall at Hawaii Hilo. The team had a record of 12-6-2 overall, finished second in the PacWest Conference and made its first-ever appearance in the NCAA postseason.

The Vulcans took down Western Oregon, 3-2, in the NCAA Super 4 Regional First Round before falling, 2-0, to Stanislaus State in the Second Round.

The box score numbers were evenly matched up across the board with Hawaii Hilo managing an 11-10 shot advantage. The Warriors' two scores were their only two attempts on goal — the Vulcans finished with three shots on goal.

The Vulcans were the No. 9 seed in the NCAA Super 4 Region.

Pacific West Conference tournament runner-up Hawaii Hilo was one of five teams to land an at-large bid for the NCAA postseason, following the five conference champions from the PacWest (Point Loma), CCAA (Stanislaus State), GNAC (Western Oregon), Lone Star Conference (Midwestern State) and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (Colorado Colorado Springs) that make up the Super 4 Region.

The Vulcans qualified for the PacWest Championships postseason tournament for the second consecutive season, falling to Point Loma Nazarene in the title match.

Stark played and started in 18 matches.

The player from Hamburg, Germany finished with two goals for four points.

He scored the lone goal in Hawaii Hilo's 4-1 defeat to Point Loma in the PacWest championship final in Santa Barbara on Nov. 15.

In 2024, he played in all 18 of the squad's matches. Stark assisted the game-winning goal of an epic late-game comeback victory over Cal State Monterey Bay and helped the Vulcans to the inaugural PacWest Conference Championships postseason tournament.

He played at Irvine Valley during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Stark played in 40 matches, making 20 starts over two seasons with the Lasers. He scored two goals.

He helped Irvine Valley to the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs both seasons.

Stark was part of an IVC squad that had a record of 12-4-6 overall and 7-1-6 in the Orange Empire Conference for second place in 2023.
