Men's soccer team drops two matches at Hartnell tourney

Irvine Valley's men's soccer team traveled to its annual Hartnell Tournament event.

After facing off against an always good El Camino team at home in a tough, 2-1, loss last Tuesday, the Lasers fell to another two, very good teams over the weekend in the Hartnell Tournament.

Irvine Valley dropped a 2-1 game to host Hartnell on Friday.

Freshman forward Isaac Nixon scored the lone goal for the Lasers in the 34th minute to give the squad a 1-0 lead. Freshman goalie Sansiro Murata finished with five saves.

Irvine Valley then took on Cerritos on Saturday at noon.

The Lasers used most of the players on their roster and lost, 3-1, although they played tough in the final 30 minutes and got a goal from freshman Adam Roland off of an assist from freshman midfielder Cade Williams.

All three goalies played for the Lasers with freshman Kevin Rafael, Murata and Chris Ocampo seeing time.

Irvine Valley plays again on Sept. 9 at Southwestern at 3 p.m.
