Irvine Valley's men's soccer team captured its first Orange Empire Conference title since 2015 with a 3-2 win over Golden West in the rain on Friday night at Orange Coast College.
IVC scored the first three goals of the game with freshman defender Michael Baumgaertel scoring the first goal of the game in the third minute on a header off of a corner kick
Sophomore forward Isaac Nixon then added goals in the 13th and 18th minutes to put the Lasers ahead, 3-0.
Irvine Valley held on in the second half to take the win and improve its record to 13-7-1 overall.
Jesus Martinez was there to capture the match on Friday against the Rustlers.
