Irvine Valley's men's soccer team scored its most goals in a match since the 2022 season in a 6-0 win over Santiago Canyon Tuesday afternoon at home.
The Lasers continued to stay at the top of the table in the Orange Empire Conference and improved their record to 8-4-0 overall and 5-0-0 in conference play.
The last time IVC scored six goals was also against Santiago Canyon in a 6-1 victory on Nov. 1, 2022.
Irvine Valley out-shot the Hawks, 17-6, on the afternoon Tuesday.
The Lasers put three into the back of the net in the first half to take control and could have had a fourth if not for an offside call.
Sophomore forward Armin Tehrani gave Irvine Valley a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute when he bounced one off of the Santiago Canyon goalie and in off a pass from sophomore defender Ethan Kofi Adu-Gyamfi.
Freshman midfielder Sungho Yun then hit a brilliant ball from outside inside the left post off an assist from freshman forward Andrew Roldan to make it a 2-0 game in the 14th minute.
And it was a 3-0 match five minutes later when Adu-Gyamfi headed in a shot off a cross from sophomore forward Yahya Alsadeq.
The Lasers took that 3-0 lead into the half, but didn't stop scoring.
In the 61st minute, freshman defender Michael Baumgaertel knocked a shot in from a back pass from Roldan and in the 74th minute, and Irvine Valley took a 5-0 advantage when freshman defender Quinn Frye scored a nifty goal in the box after Tehrani carried the ball down the left side and sent it in.
Frye finished off Tehrani's assist with a one-time blast.
Irvine Valley capped its scoring in the 81st minute when freshman forward Jonathan Minney scored with a shot under the bar in the upper right corner.
IVC's defense was solid all day and freshman goalie Sansiro Murata had to make just three saves for the clean sheet.
The Lasers play again on Friday at defending conference champion Fullerton in a night game.
