Irvine Valley's men's soccer team took the lead Tuesday in a key match at home, but gave up goals in the 71st and 74th minutes and Cypress pulled off a 2-1 Orange Empire Conference win with three matches left in the regular season.

Irvine Valley remained in first place in the Orange Empire Conference and could earn an automatic bid to the So. Cal. Regional playoffs with a couple of more solid results.

IVC's record went to 11-7 overa and 8-3-0 in OEC play, while Cypress moved up in the conference standings and went to 10-3-5 overall and 6-2-3 in conference.

The Lasers scored the first goal from sophomore defender Tristan Amezcua in the 63rd minute off of a cross and then a deflection that he sent into the back of the net.

IVC had other chances throughout, but Cypress scored the final two goals of the game.

Frank Troya scored in the 71st minute off an assist from Diego Acaraz and Isaac Morales finished in the 74th minute on a header off a cross from Erik Hernandez for the game-winner.

Irvine Valley freshman goalie Sansiro Murata made five saves in goal for the Lasers.

IVC will look to get back on track on Friday in a conference match at Santiago Canyon at 3 p.m.
